Divided into eight different sections Ayurveda healing and health care system concentrates on the patient, as well as the disease. Graha Chikitsa is one of the eight divisions.
This is the same as Psychiatry in the modern medicine. This division especially deals with the diseases of mind and psychic conditions. This also deals with the psychosomatic disorders.
This division of Ayurveda is also known as Bhoot Vidya. The term Bhoot is a topic of debate. Some people explain this as supernatural forces like evil spirits, while some explain the term as microscopic organisms like viruses or bacteria. Both are attempts to find the reason behind the psychological disorders.
The Tri Doshas which are explained by Ayurveda have no connection in these diseases. But Ayurveda believes Rajasik and Tamasik Gunas play a role in them.
The treatment mainly consists of the use of herbs, diet, mantras and certain yogic therapies.
