Ayurveda is a healing and health care system having treatment methods which concentrates on the patient, as well as the disease. This vast science had been classified into eight divisions, which are collectively called Ashtanga Ayurveda. This division enhances the understanding and practice of this science. Vaajikarana Chikitsa is one of the eight divisions.
This branch of Ayurveda helps to improve the sexual and fertility problems.
The term Vaaja has two meanings: speed and semen. This science treats the people with defects in sexual system and enables them to acquire a healthy progeny. Ayurveda prescribes to take aphrodisiac before the copulation. This promotes the physical strength, as well as prompts discharge of semen and ensures proper sexual activity.
Ayurveda gives more emphasis on the mental attitude of the partners rather than consuming drugs. The drugs which had been used are medicated ghee or oil, some times herbs, which depends on the patient. In certain cases appropriate Pancha Karma treatment is prescribed.
