Excessive Burping Causes

Excessive burpings can cause mental discomfort in anyone. Everyone experiences burpings sometime or the other. Burping is also known as belching. It is expulsion of gas from the stomach through the mouth. There are many causes of excessive burping. Some of excessive burping causes are mentioned in this article.

Causes of Excessive Burping

Eating habits –

Wrong and improper eating habits cause excessive burpings. Eating food at wrong timings, eating spicy and oily food items and overeating cause excessive burping and also result in stomach ache.

Food allergy –

Some foods cause allergic reactions. People may be even sensitive to certain foods and eating theses foods can cause burping. For example, some people are sensitive to lactose present in milk and its products. If such foods are consumed, excess gas is expelled from the body thus leading to burps.

Pregnancy –

During pregnancy, excessive burpings can occur as a result of two causes. One cause is that during pregnancy, the levels of progesterone hormone increase very high. Usually, progesterone relaxes the muscle tissues in the body. If the hormone levels go high, the muscles relax to a great extent and digestive system slows down. Thus it leads to bloating, nausea and burping.
Another cause is that during the later stage of pregnancy, the uterus fills the abdominal cavity thus making the digestion process slow. This could result in excessive burping.

Acid reflux disease –

It is a stomach disorder also known as gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). In this condition, the stomach acids are reverted back into the esophaghus. This results in symptoms such as acid taste in mouth, heartburn, chest pain, nausea, difficulty in breathing and eating which would eventually lead to excessive burping. People with GERD would definitely suffer from burping.

Gallbladder Disease –

Gallbladder disease results in symptoms such as heartburn, chest pain, nausea, vomiting, bloating, fever, chills and excessive burping.

Irritable Bowel Disease –

It is an intestinal disorder that is caused when the large intestine does not perform normal functions. It results in stomach pain, bloating, nausea, gas, constipation.
