You should follow these simple methods needed for the treatment of diarrhea. They are:

Hydration

  • Hydration is one thing that is important when you suffer from diarrhea because there is a risk of dehydration.
  • The body is deprived of the vitamins and minerals, which results in electrolyte imbalance.
  • The most important thing is rehydrate yourself by drinking plenty of water and adults could drink sport drinks or vegetable juices.
  • Oral rehydration solutions are found in many of the pharmacy stores. So, keep sipping on these solutions to maintain proper hydration.
  • Dehydration can lead to serious complications. So, when you suffer from diarrhea, drink lots of water.

What not to eat

  • As your body is already in trouble, try to reduce the problem instead of increasing it by eating whatever food that makes you feel better.
  • Most of the people prefer or are comfortable in eating greasy and fatty foods as it complicates your condition.
  • Apart from avoiding these foods, you need to stop the intake of sweets, dairy products and spicy foods.
  • Avoid the intake of any caffeinated drinks, alcoholic beverages, drinks with artificial sweeteners such as sucralose, sorbitol and aspartame.
  • These foods can only worsen diarrhea so, avoid all these foodstuffs.

Things you can and should eat.

  • Most of the people have complained of lack of appetite when they suffer from diarrhea.
  • The first thing is to replace the lost body fluids by drinking rehydration solutions or health drinks.
  • You should eat a bland diet and concentrate more on starchy foods like plain rice, soda crackers, boiled potatoes, bananas and cooked carrots.
  • You can also eat boiled eggs with plain baked chicken.
  • You need to follow the BRAT diet that is banana, rice, applesauce and toast.

Give your body the rest it deserves

  • When you have learnt ways to stop diarrhea then do not neglect it but implement it.
  • Provide your body with the needed rest to fight against the viral gastroenteritis.
  • Your immune system cannot perform well if you do not take proper rest. This lengthens the time you take to recover.

Simple Remedies for Diarrhea

Some of the common home remedies for diarrhea are:

  • Juice of fresh Indian gooseberry along with lemon juice and sugar is found to be useful.
  • One teaspoonful of ginger juice is added to ½ cup of boiling water and this is consumed for every hour.
  • You can also mix half teaspoonful of lemon juice, 1/2 tsp of ginger juice with ¼ tsp of pepper powder. This mixture can be taken twice a day.
  • Banana when taken with curd is also found to be useful for diarrhea treatment.
  • Tea made out of amaranth seeds and leaves are another effective cure for diarrhea.
  • Curd and mango juice with 1tsp of ginger also is effective.
  • You can add 3 teaspoons of black pepper and 11/2 teaspoon of kelp to two cups of boiled and cooled water. Drink this mixture as it relieves diarrhea.
  • You can make a paste of lemon with seeds and add some salt to it. Take 1 teaspoon of this paste two to three times a day. This is another remedy for diarrhea.
  • You can also take 1 teaspoonful of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water and drink this with each meal.
  • Roast ½ tsp of fenugreek seeds and cumin seeds and mix this and powder ir. Add for teaspoons of yogurt and take this mixture for three times a day.
  • Blend chopped red radishes, which is then mixed in 1 cup of cold milk with ½ teaspoon of cornstarch. This mixture can be taken slowly.
  • You can add four tablespoons of honey with eight ounces of water. This mixture can be taken everyday and works very efficiently.
  • Take some spigel seeds in 125 grams of curd and consume this two times a day.
  • Powder ten grams of Indian gooseberry with five grams of black chebulic myrobalan. Take this mixture two times a day.
  • You can also chew roasted cumin seeds along with curd after each meal as this increases the digestive power.
  • Application of ginger juice to the umbilicus is another effective treatment for diarrhea.

Diarrhea can be a symptoms of a mild bacterial or viral infection or it can be dangerous as well. So, do not hesitate to see a doctor if you suffer from diarrhea for more than four days along with dehydration, pain in the abdomen along with bloody or mucous like stools. Consult a doctor immediately when you observe these symptoms to prevent complications.
