  • Fermentative lactic acid bacteria like Lactobacillus Casaei and Lactobacillus Plantarum help reduce the formation of gas in the digestive tract. Fermented bean paste like miso is known to have it. Using it in different dishes can be useful in keeping away from the said problem.
  • Beans have a tendency of increasing the intestinal gas problem. Soaking them overnight and boiling them helps to convert the complex carbohydrate in them into simple sugars. Fermenting the beans and cooking them in the liquid which has been already used to cook beans earlier makes them easier on the tummy.
  • The bacteria Lactobacillus Acidophilus found in probiotics like yogurt restores the friendly bacteria of the gut and reduces flatulence.
  • It may be helpful to take a small acid based drink like lemon juice or vinegar prior to a meal. It increases the production of the gastric hydrochloric acid and enzymes which facilitates the breaking down of food and brings down intestinal gas.
  • Raw pineapple or papaya containing the digestive enzymes bromelain and papain respectively can aid digestion and help with the discussed problem.
  • Something known as ‘medically activated charcoal tablets’ taken immediately before meals can help a lot with the

Treatment with antibiotics of any intrinsic digestion problem can also fix the bad smelling flatulence problem. The antibiotic rifaximin used to treat diarrhea caused by the microorganism E.coli may reduce intestinal gas or any socially inappropriate foul smelling physical reflex.
