Sour Stomach

Sour Stomach essentially refers to a condition of dyspepsia or indigestion due the presence of excess stomach acid which is hydrochloric acid. This condition is often characterized by a sour aftertaste in the mouth because of the accompanying symptom of acid reflux. Acid indigestion is a very common ailment and suffered by millions of people. The persisting presence of this condition can cause serious damage to the lining of the stomach walls and can bring about stomach ulcer.

  • Herbal supplements containing wind flower extract, ginger root extract, marshmallow extract can help.
  • Aloe Vera juice is renowned for its anti inflammatory and anti microbial properties and can alleviate gastric stress and indigestion.
  • Carrot juice and papaya often have a neutralizing effect on stomach acids and can help with the symptoms.
  • Boil water and throw in a handful of cumin seeds, coriander seeds and fennel seeds. Let it steep. Strain it and sip it throughout the day. It will aid in the digestion process.
  • Ginger tea and green tea are also known to reduce acidity and the relate conditions.

Prevention of acid indigestion

  • The first suggestion would be to eat less fatty and sugary stuff. Eat food rich in fiber and nutrients as in fruits and vegetables. Three small meals and three snacks throughout the day would be ideal.
  • Eat at least three hours prior to bedtime. If possible go for a light stroll prior to bed time.
